We ♥ Lake Powell!

We just returned from a heavenly week in Lake Powell with Dan's family. It was so great to be with the Elggrens on our first family vacation with them. We stayed on a houseboat and found a perfect spot in Last Chance Bay in a gorgeous cove away from boat traffic. Here's what else we loved:

Tubing with the speedboat! Corey loved it and Ashlyn did too (unless Uncle Derrick was driving;-) and we took some funny pictures of everyone getting wild rides.

Cliff jumping in the private cove by our houseboat. Ashlyn & Corey jumped off cliffs that I didn't dare jump off of! Corey would get a running start and just hurl himself off the cliff. I have to admit...he really got my heart pounding.

Dave (a.k.a. "Uncle Awesome") killed a rattlesnake that was hiding just under the front of the houseboat! He skinned it and all the kiddos thought that was about the coolest thing they'd ever seen. We were glad that this story had a happy ending (if not for the rattler)!

Claire, our little water baby loved playing in the water. She loved going for rides on the speedboat and "driving" the houseboat too!

Cute Linda brought several craft projects for the kids. One day, she painted faces and the kids loved it. We thought the paint would wash right off, but no such luck! It looked like Mardi Gras for about 2 days:-) The cousins had so much fun together!

I LOVED seeing Dan's family interact and have such a great time together. The late-night talks on the deck were fabulous as was hearing stories from their childhood. It still cracks me up that Dan almost cut off Dave's thumb with an axe when they were kids and his parents (and until recently, Dave too) had always thought that Dave did it himself. Dan's tricky like that, and kids are gullible! Glad you have all your fingers attached, Uncle Awesome!
