Our Thankful Tree

On Thursday I attended a Relief Society activity on Family Home Evening. It was like a progressive dinner, in that we went to different homes for lessons, then ended at the ward for a final lesson and dessert. It was just the thing I needed to get us back on track. We've done Family Home Evening sporadically, but not consistently. I loved what Alecia said was important for effective F.H.E.....
1. Keep it short & simple
2. Be sincere
3. Do it every week
4. Have fun & participate with your kids
5. It may not always be perfect, but you'll be blessed for your obedience
She showed a "Thankful Tree" that her family had made recently for their F.H.E. I loved the idea, so I shamelessly stole her idea for my family this week. The things my kids wrote surprised me. Some of the things we wrote were holidays, toothbrush, showers, electricity, recess, friends, candles, 5 senses, 4 seasons and God. I loved Corey's that says "The good times." We have so much to be thankful for. In a year full of ups and downs, some major disappointments and struggles, I am certainly thankful for my family and for "the good times."
