Ashlyn just finished playing volleyball and loved it. It helps that on her 3rd-5th grade team, she was one of the taller players and she's just in 3rd grade. No surprise there, I guess! Unfortunately, the season was not even 2 months long. It seems like it ended just when all the girls were really on fire. Dan loved being their coach. When the season was over he said he'd miss practice because it was "his favorite part of the week." Ashlyn is such a Daddy's girl and was so excited to have Dan be her coach for the first time since he coached her soccer team when she was 4 years old.
Ashlyn's team "The Killer Sharks" did pretty well, only losing one set until the playoffs. In the last set, they went 25-21, 19-25, then lost the last game 15-12! It was so close and I couldn't believe how well they did against a much older team. My little competitive Ashlyn was so disappointed to lose that I had a hard time getting her to smile for team pictures! We may look for a comp team that plays year-round, because this league only plays in the Winter.
