
We recently went to the Real Pirates exhibit at The Denver Nature & Science Museum. It's a collection of items found from the Whydah Slave ship that was captured by pirates and eventually wrecked off the coast of Cape Cod over 300 years ago. We had just seen the new "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides" movie, so we had Pirates on the brain! While a lot of the exhibit was geared toward adults, our kids still enjoyed it.
After the Pirates exhibit, we spent a few hours in the rest of the museum. The Expedition Health section is always our favorite. We watched a dissection of a human lung(!!!) and Dan and the 2 older kids did 2 lab experiments. Claire and I ran around together and did some things she was interested in. Her favorite thing was the sunscreen experiment (below), where she looked at her skin before and after applying sunscreen. It was hilarious to hear her giggle and to see her eyes widen with interest...
