A few weeks ago, we had Fantasia stay with us for a few days. I've been wanting to check out the Denver Museum of Nature and Science, so we knocked that off our list first. Fantasia had been before, but didn't realize until we walked in the door. The kids' favorite part was the "Expedition Health" section. They each received a card that collected their data at many of the exhibits. They measured their height and heart rate at rest and after riding a bike, saw their veins through their skin with a special machine, saw an age progression of their skin and face over 50 years, measured their stride, and experienced cold, increased heart rate and real snow in the BodyTrek theatre!

In the "Space Odyssey" section, we watched an "astronaut on Mars." In the "Egyptian Mummies" section, we saw a real mummy and learned about Ancient Egypt. In the "Gems & Minerals" section, we saw amazing rocks and gemstones.
This is the Biology Base Camp Lab in the "Expedition Health" section, where we spent almost an hour. Ashlyn swabbed the inside of her cheek and looked at her skin cells under a microscope, Corey measured several cereals for sugar content and Fantasia fed microorganisms caffeine and tobacco samples and then watched them react under a microscope. We might have some little LAB RATS in the making here!

Well, we loved the Denver Museum of Nature & Science... So much so that we stayed for 5 hours! Corey and Claire both fell asleep in the car on the way home and we all slept well that night! I still have several places on our "TO VISIT" list that I want to see this summer. If you're near Denver, check out what's available at:
